For at least 10 years, every Time Machine set up I have been in charge of, or tasked with maintaining for someone else, has eventually run into an issue where it stops backing up successfully. The only solution has been to start over, to not inherit backup state and to manually delete the old backup. My experience while looking up this solution repeatedly has been that this is not uncommon, and definitely is not just me holding it wrong; indeed the steps are marked as recommended solutions on Apple's own forums.
I'm picking on rust here because it's no secret it has a long history of having some very... enthusiastic users. But my broader point is that tools are just tools. They're not our identity, a mark of our wisdom, or a moral choice. Other people have different perspectives, tastes, and skills - and they may prefer different tools to us.

I’ve decided to organize the sprites so that the more often they get updated, the lower a sprite index they have. That means that sprites 0-4 represent the cells’ drop shadows (changing 4 times a frame just for that), the corner sprites are 5-6 (changing twice a frame in both location and shape) and the left drop shadow is sprite 7 (changes twice a frame but just location). Sprites 0 and 1 will also be the sprites further repurposed for the bottom-side drop shadow (which changes their location, shape, and magnification).
